JANUARY 21, 2024 – – – Daulton Wilson and JRR Motorsports lifted the lid to their 2024 campaign from January 18-20 at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. The World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Model Series presided over the annual ‘Sunshine Nationals,’ which drew a total of 56 Super Late Model entrants from around the country. Following a rain-out of the $10,000 to win opener on Thursday night, Friday’s show at the Daytona Beach-area speedplant went off without a hitch.
Daulton laid down the tenth quickest time in Group A during qualifying on Friday evening prior to running second in his heat race. After starting the $12,000 to win headliner from the inside of the fourth row, Daulton ultimately slipped back to seventeenth in the final rundown after 35 green flag circuits.
On Saturday at VSP, a $15,000 top prize was up for grabs in the ‘Sunshine Nationals’ grand finale. The Fayetteville, North Carolina standout posted the fourth quickest lap in Group B during qualifying before finishing second once again in heat race action. Daulton then started the 40-lapper from the outside of the fourth row prior to blasting all the way up to fourth in the running order. However, Daulton slipped back through the talented field late in the distance and was forced to settle for another seventeenth place showing.
