JULY 17, 2024 – – – A busy five-race stretch from July 11-16 for Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competitors was unfortunately cut short by inclement weather, as Mother Nature won out at both Tri-City (IL) Speedway and Lucas Oil (MO) Speedway. The action kicked off on Thursday night with the annual ‘Slocum 50’ at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. Daulton Wilson placed third in his loaded heat race prior to blitzing past six competitors during the caution-free, 50-lap feature. At the checkers, Daulton celebrated on the podium in third behind only $15,555 winner Devin Moran and runner-up Hudson O’Neal!
The national tour then made inaugural visits to both Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Nebraska and Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa. With a $10,000 payday on the line on Monday evening at Eagle, Daulton finished third in his heat race, but later vaulted to the front in the 40-lapper to battle for the lead. Unfortunately, he was caught up in a wreck on lap 21 and was relegated to a disappointing twenty-second place showing. At Harlan on Tuesday in the $10,053 to win ‘Kosiski Family 53,’ the Fayetteville, North Carolina ace ran second in his heat race and sixth in the 53-lap headliner.
